Basketball 2010

Well I know it is over but at least I got it up before next year. The kids just finished Basketball this season. They had a great time.
The girls have gotten so tall that they tower over every person that they come in contact with. Some kids hated guarded them, others just laughed. I keep telling them it will come in handy! Chip off the old block! I love watching them play!

JaKobie is the same way. He quick as can be. Has done a great job learning defense and how to dribble.

I think we have finally talked Denise in to taking her photo taking to a professional level. She has taken tons of pictures of my family and other family's and does a spectacular job. She has recently taken some photograph classes to sharpen up her skills and is now ready for real customers. Her blog is Digitalsbyd if you want to check her out. She has great prices and does a fantastic job!

ICE HOCKEY GAME

SO for Christmas we got Denise Hockey tickets. She has been waiting for this day to come. I am taking the kids with us so thoguht it would be extra fun! Now this is my first ever hockey game. I was a little worried how the kids would take it,but knew they would want to go. So, figured this would be ok. BUT little did we know and you can guess Denise didnt tell us they start off with a fight.

SO after JaKobie stopped crying and we convienced him it was all an act things got a little better. We had popcorn, and nachos, and yelled stuff we would never say again! JaKobie caught a T-shirt from the Chearleaders, so that was even more exciting!

Denise kissed at the Cam.

The girls had a great time!

THen last but not least!

Pretty Sure JaKobie wants to go back!

Feb. 6th Weekend

What a weekend! First mom and Ron came down to have Christmas, and see us. I know what your thinking. IT is February and we are just having Christmas. BUT yes that is what happens when people get busy and all go separate ways for holidays. Any who, while waiting on them I went to meet Lisa and see her kids for the first time. Now back in the day me and Lisa were pretty much always around each other. We did and went alot of places together. Over the years we kinda lost touch, but thanks to Facebook we are back in tough. HER KIDS ARE SO CUTE! they are just perfect little devils! Ethan started calling me miss Shelley off the bat, was just to perfect! Paige was so smart that I couldn't believe it. I cant want to be around them more. After seeing them we went home and mom got there. We stayed up until nearly 12 just talking and catching up. Was a great visit. The next day we had to show Ron how the DunMurphy's play basketball and then all got dress and were ready for Sat. night activities. Sunday Mornings all went to eat at brunch and sent mom and Ron off to a basketball game! IT was a GREAT weekend!

I think I am ready!

Ok a couple of weeks ago I went to Brownwood to see a friend, Nikki. She has been doing so well with losing weight that I was so so so jealous of her. She looks amazing and said she had only been cutting back on what she ate. I might be a little jealous but I am very proud of her. SO I have decided that it is time for me to get off my duff and lose some weight. I wont bless you with knowing how much I weigh now, but we can all say it is alot! So this is my little pledge for eating right and staying healthy. Even if I dont have time to walk, I will ate least eat the right foods. I will check back when it is time to let you know of my progress.

Girls Night Out

This last weekend I went to see my dad in Early. Yes small small town so not to many people there or to much to see. BUT the most important thing happend! GIRLS NIGHT! Since Nikki decided to move back to Early from Austin girls nights are so few and far between. For some reason that little extra time we get to have with out kids is the best time of our lives! We meet up around 830ish to go to Chilies, in a small town there really is no where else to go! We stayed and talked for at least 3 hrs. Of course we had so "grown up drinks" and were loud as all get out. BUT I am convinced that Tropical Sunrise is my new favorit drink! So a great night!

Moms worries

When my daughter was two weeks old, I was standing at the top of some steps and, for a minute, I held her tighter because I was truly afraid that the wind would blow her out of my arms. It sounds crazy now, but the urge to protect your child is hardwired and sometimes irrational. Indeed, for the first few years of their lives, it seems like our main occupation is to keep them from certain death. You scoop tiny chokeable bits of things out of their mouths; you grab them by the pants just before they fall off a chair, the stairs, the top of the slide; you stop them from prying old gum off the sidewalk.
And of course sometimes kids do fall, and there you are in the emergency room, freighted with guilt or panic or both. Most of the time, they are fine, and you get used to a certain level of parental worry. But there's another opposite and almost equally terrifying thought that we don't talk about as much: what if something happened to us before our kids were old enough to take care of themselves?
We're usually so preoccupied with our children's well-being that our own safety is an afterthought. But the deaths of two notable mothers over the past week, both with young children, have made those thoughts hard to avoid. But another week of work, school projects and laundry is already upon us; it won't be long before we forget Richardson and Goody. That's perhaps one blessing of having young children. The struggle to simply keep up with the everyday doesn't leave much time for fretting over hypotheticals. Be safe!
